Dubai's allure as a global tourist destination has spurred a rising demand for holiday homes. If you own property in this vibrant city and wish to capitalise on this trend by renting it out as a holiday home, securing a holiday home license is imperative. This blog post will walk you through the process of obtaining a holiday home license in Dubai, ensuring that you are well-informed and prepared.


Before delving into the application process, it's crucial to familiarise yourself with the requirements set by the Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM). To be eligible for a holiday home license:

  1. You must be the owner of the property.

  2. The property must be located in an area designated for holiday homes.

  3. The property must meet health, safety and quality standards specified by the DTCM.

  4. You must possess a valid Ejari (tenancy contract) and DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority) account.

  5. A registered holiday home operator is a prerequisite.


Apply for a Holiday Home Permit


Once you've ensured compliance with the prerequisites, you can initiate the application process for a holiday home permit from the DTCM. Follow these steps:

  1. Register on the DTCM e-services portal: Create an account and submit your application online.

  2. Pay the application fee: The initial application fee is AED 1,000, with a renewal fee of AED 500.

  3. Submit required documents: Include copies of the property title deed, Ejari contract, DEWA bill, holiday home operator's license, property floor plan, health and safety compliance certificate issued by the Dubai Municipality and proof of payment for the tourism dirham fee.

  4. Await DTCM approval: The processing time typically takes around two weeks.
